Spring 2016 student parking registration begins Jan. 5

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Student parking registration for the spring 2016 semester will begin at noon on Tuesday, Jan. 5, and will be available exclusively online at the Transportation Services website.

To register for a permit, students need an active Penn State ID and WebAccess account, as well as the license plate information for any vehicles they wish to register with their permit. Vehicles must be owned by the student or a member of the student's immediate family to be registered with a student permit. With the exception of commuters and graduate students, students must have completed at least 28 credits prior to the spring 2016 semester to be eligible for parking.

Upon completion of the online registration, students will have access to a printable temporary permit that can be displayed on their dashboard to allow for immediate parking. Students will be able to return to their account at a later time to print the permit if they do not have access to a printer when completing their registration.

Permanent permits will be mailed to the local or campus address of each student. It is very important that all required information be entered accurately to ensure prompt permit delivery. Please pay special attention to the following items:

  • License plate numbers must be entered as one uninterrupted number – DO NOT include spaces or symbols.
  • Local, off-campus addresses must include a street number, street name and apartment number (if applicable). Information on the correct format for on-campus addresses may be found at the Housing website.
  • If moving to a new local, off-campus address for the spring 2016 semester, residency must be established with the local post office to receive mail at that address. Contact their office for more information.

Once the permanent permit has been delivered, the printable temporary permit must be discarded and the permanent permit displayed on the rear view mirror of the vehicle.

Students eligible for upgrades to a base student permit, such as pre-authorized graduate assistants, student-athletes and those with a state-issued ADA placard, must visit the Parking Office to obtain their upgraded permit. However, registration for a base student permit must be completed online prior to applying for any upgrades. In addition, students registering for motorcycle, weekly or one-day permits must also register in person at the Parking Office. Please note that an additional fee is due for most upgrade permits.

With a large volume of traffic expected on the Parking website at the start of the registration period, any students encountering issues completing their registration are urged to avoid double clicking on website buttons or using the web browser's back button, as these actions may result in errors with your transaction. If any issues arise while attempting to complete the registration, please exit the site and contact the Parking Office for assistance.

For more information regarding student parking registration, please visit the Student Parking page of the Transportation Services website or contact the Parking Office by phone at 814-865-1436 or by email at parking@psu.edu.
