Birosik, Fretz, Meijer named NFHCA All-Region

Three Nittany Lions named to national field hockey coaches association Mideast All-Region

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State field hockey’s Aurelia Meijer, Brooke Birosik and Skyler Fretz were named to the 2015 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Mideast All-Region team Monday afternoon as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Birosik, Fretz, and Meijer were huge contributors for Penn State this past season, helping the Nittany Lions advance to the second-round of the Big Ten tournament.Junior Brooke Birosik finished the 2015 season as the Nittany Lions leading scorer netting 11 goals, three assist, totaling 25 points on the season.Meijer, the first international field hockey in Penn State history, wrapped up her freshman campaign in Happy Valley by leading her team in assist, totaling seven on the season, while also finishing tied for second in goals (6) and points (19).Skyler Fretz started in every game in 2015 for Penn State becoming a main stay for head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss.The 2015 Longstreth / NFHCA Division I Regional Players of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 2. The 2015 Longstreth / NFHCA Division I All-American Teams will be announced on Monday, Dec. 7, while the 2015 Longstreth / NFHCA Division I National Player of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 9.
