With students and faculty off for Thanksgiving week and employees off the Friday after, the University is urging everyone to check off a quick energy list before checking out of their offices and residence halls.
Turn them off.
Turn off all unnecessary lights, appliances and electronics (like printers) before leaving for the day, weekend or full break.
Unplug them.
Charges for cordless electronic and electrical transformers draw power even when not connected to a device.
Turn them down.
Keep thermostats set to 70 degrees in winter where manual control is provided.
Close them.
Close blinds and curtains to keep the cold out and the warm in.
