Penn State-Michigan football ticket sales to benefit THON fundraising efforts

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is providing fans with an opportunity to attend the Michigan football game and support the Penn State Dance Marathon (THON).

The Nittany Lions will host the Wolverines for Senior Day and the Penn State White Out at noon on Saturday, Nov. 21. Penn State will donate 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the remaining 3,000 tickets for the Big Ten East Division clash to THON.

This semester, THON canceled the last two of its three scheduled canning weekends, which are a tradition that raises funds and awareness for the fight against childhood cancer. Since 1977, THON has raised more than $127 million for families impacted by cancer as well as research toward finding a cure.

“This is an incredible opportunity for the Penn State family, especially alumni and fans, to join students in taking action in the fight against childhood cancer,” said Lily Beatty, THON 2016 public relations director. “Not only does this opportunity raise funds, but also brings awareness to a cause that this community is deeply passionate about. The more tickets that are sold, the more lives that can be impacted through THON's efforts and that is something we are truly thankful for.”

The theme of THON 2016 is “Believe Beyond Boundaries.” THON weekend, a 46-hour dance marathon, will be held Feb. 19-21, 2016, in the Bryce Jordan Center.

The Nittany Lion seniors playing their final game in Beaver Stadium will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. All fans are encouraged to wear white to Saturday’s home finale.

The Penn State residence halls will remain open until Sunday at 10 a.m. to allow all students an opportunity to attend the football game heading into the weeklong Thanksgiving break from classes.

To purchase tickets for the Michigan game or for more information, fans can visit PSUnrivaled.com, call 1-800-NITTANY (weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) or visit the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office (weekdays from 10 a.m-6 p.m.). Donations can be made directly to THON by visiting donate.thon.org.
