Penn State York named Military Friendly School

YORK, Pa. — Penn State York has once again been named a Military Friendly School by Victory Media. This is the fourth consecutive year York has earned this designation in recognition of their outstanding work with veterans. The Military Friendly Schools designation is now in its seventh year.  “As a veteran myself, I am pleased and proud that Penn State York has once again received this designation,” said David. W. Chown, chancellor of Penn State York.Institutions competed for the Military Friendly School title by completing a survey of more than 100 questions covering 10 categories, including military support on campus, graduation and employment outcomes, and military spouse policies.Penn State York has 44 student-veterans receiving benefits through the G.I. Bill. For more information about campus’ programs and services for veterans, visit york.psu.edu/veterans.York offers 10 bachelor’s degrees and seven associate degrees that can be completed without leaving the area. Students also have the opportunity to begin the first two years of Penn State’s more than 160 degree programs in York (2+2) and finish at University Park or another Penn State location. There is also a graduate program, master of education in Teaching and Curriculum, offered through a partnership with Penn State Harrisburg. Students also have the opportunity to apply to take part in The Graham Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Studies, a program that encourages students to develop leadership skills through a variety of programs and, in some instances, an internship opportunity. Adult learners can take advantage of courses offered in a variety of formats at convenient times, as well as student services dedicated to meeting their needs.At Penn State York, students can earn a degree that is recognized around the world. The 51-acre commuter campus, overlooking the historic city of York, is home to more than 1,100 students, traditional and nontraditional, and is part of a community bursting with Penn State pride. The York campus attracts a student population rich in diversity, including 145 international students and a number from out-of-state.  In addition to having an outstanding academic experience, students can participate in collegiate athletics or take part in more than 20 clubs and organizations. Penn State York’s Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) and the Lee R. Glatfelter Library provide students with additional recreational opportunities and educational resources
