UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we recognize five Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:

Suzanne Kuhn, at Penn State Altoona, whose nominator wrote: "The Penn State Altoona nursing faculty and staff recognize Suzanne for her extraordinary leadership. She consistently goes above and beyond and provides unwavering support to the faculty, staff and students. Suzanne puts her heart and soul into the Penn State Altoona Nursing Department. Thank you!"

Brian Redmond, in the College of the Liberal Arts, whose nominator wrote: "Dr. Redmond takes the time to advise, listen and encourage World Campus students. He made my transition to State College from Wisconsin an amazing journey. He is compassionate, educated and well informed on classes and the academic process!"

Lauren Blum, at Penn State New Kensington, whose nominator wrote: "Lauren is one of the main driving forces behind the creation of community and the encouragement of educational fun at Penn State New Kensington. She works countless hours providing a fulfilling student activities line-up, and somehow still finds time to organize productive staff Senate meetings."

Mitchell Patterson, at Penn State Harrisburg, whose nominator wrote: "He is seemingly always 'Johnny on the Spot,' never seems too busy to assist, is extremely thorough, always pleasant and handles each task with a 'going above and beyond' approach and conclusion."

Michael Vicaro, at Penn State Greater Allegheny, whose nominator wrote: "Dr. Vicaro goes out of his way to ensure that every student gets the most out of their education. He will stay late if you can't meet during his office hours and is always available for any kind of conversation -- school or life-related. He makes every student feel they can achieve anything in life."

Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form. For more information about the process, visit the "We Are!" guidelines
