Develop healthy habits for life with new weight management program

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa – University Health Services (UHS) announces a new weight management program available to Penn State students.

Participants of this 12-week program will meet with a registered dietitian for six visits to discuss personal dietary and fitness goals. The program is designed specifically for students with the following health concerns: prediabetes, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, obesity/overweight and metabolic syndrome. The program is being led by Maria Blesh, a registered dietitian at UHS.

"We are very excited to offer this program to Penn State students. It was designed specifically for students to not only address weight loss for medical reasons, but also to teach healthy nutrition and fitness habits that are sustainable for years to come." said Blesh.

Students will receive a healthy eating guide, food journal and pedometer when they enroll in the program.

The fee for an appointment with a dietitian is $28 per hour. Nutrition appointments can be billed to insurance. Students can make an appointment by calling 814-863-0461. More information can be found at http://studentaffairs.psu.edu/health/wellness/nutritionClinic.shtml.
