Tickets now available for the Young People's Chorus of Erie's holiday concert

During the holiday season, gifts are given to friends and loved ones to remind them that you care. They’re an extension of many central holiday themes: love, peace and joy.

That’s also the thinking behind “Simple Gifts,” this year’s holiday concert from the Young People’s Chorus (YPC) of Erie, northwest Pennsylvania’s only comprehensive youth choral music program.

“The idea of gifts has an obvious connection to the holiday season, but wise people know the best things in life aren’t things, but instead peace, love, joy, the people we love, kindness, memories and shared experiences. These are the true riches of a life well-lived, and they often come to us unheralded and unplanned — the simple gifts of being alive and present with one another,” said Gabrielle Dietrich, YPC’s artistic director. “Our concert celebrates these gifts, as we express gratitude for all we have already been given and encourage one another to open our hearts and freely share the blessings we have received.”

The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11, at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 W. 38th St., Erie, Pennsylvania.

Dietrich will conduct the Concert Chorus, Young Men’s Chorus, Chorale and Cantare, YPC’s youngest chorus.

YPC Erie is a youth outreach organization of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Penn State Behrend.

Tickets for “Simple Gifts” are available now. General admission is $10, and tickets for children ages 7-12 are $5. Children under the age of 6 are free.
