ERIE, Pa. — In “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,” Wonka promises visitors to his factory a “golden ticket to imagination and adventure.” For one afternoon this November, the Choirs of Penn State Behrend promise the same thing.

“Pure Imagination” will be the theme of this year’s Penn State Behrend Chamber Singers and Concert Choir fall concert, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 15.

Musical selections for the performance include “Animal Crackers,” a whimsical and humorous set from choral superstar Eric Whitacre; music that celebrates Romany and Brazilian culture; and a new arrangement of “Pure Imagination,” one of the best-known songs from the film “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” The concert begins at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Erie, located at 7th and Sassafras streets.

“Our human capacity for imagination allows us to dream a better world, to innovate and create, to empathize with the experiences of others, but also to play and express our deepest and oldest emotions and journey back to the magic of childhood,” said Gabrielle Dietrich, director of choral ensembles at the campus. “We hope this concert will bring out the kid in all of us, and to that end, we will feature guest performers from The Young People's Chorus of Erie, along with other sweet surprises for all.”

Admission to “Pure Imagination” is free and open to the public. For additional information, please contact Dietrich at gpd10@psu.edu.
