CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Penn State Lehigh Valley students are invited to attend an etiquette dinner at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Melt Restaurant in Center Valley.

A diverse group of alumni will be seated with the students to provide advice on professional conversation and proper exchanges for future business lunches and dinners that students may attend during internships or in their careers.

Special guest speaker Anne Baum, founder and president of Vision Accomplished and vice president of Lehigh Valley for Capital BlueCross, will speak about dinner etiquette during the event.

Baum is active in the community and has served as chair of the board of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, The Bethlehem Area Chamber of Commerce and the YWCA of Bethlehem. She is active or has served on the boards and committees of the Women’s Leadership Initiative of the United Way, Minsi Trails Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania, Saucon Valley Educational Foundation (founding trustee), St. Luke’s Hospital Charity Ball, The Foundation of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce (chair and founding board member), and Casa Guadalupe.

In 2005, Baum was selected as one of Pennsylvania’s top 50 women in business by Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. She has been featured by the Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal as a Community Spotlight Award winner and as a top 20 executive under 40. In 2006, she received the President’s Award from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, and, in 2009, she received the Lehigh Valley Suits award for excellence in human resources consulting.

“The information shared at the dinner will help students improve manners and learn how to interact in a professional and formal dining environment. Alumni will be present to interact with students and reinforce the importance of professionalism,” said Denise Ogden, professor of marketing and co-chair of the Business, Engineering, Technology Advisory Council (BETAC).

The etiquette dinner is a Student/Alumni Networking Event (SANE) and costs $10 to attend. The etiquette dinner is being sponsored by the Penn State Lehigh Valley Career Services Office, BETAC, and Student Activities.
