UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) has launched a “Manufacturing at Penn State” campaign to highlight the advancements the University has made in the manufacturing and supply chain sectors through research, academics, training, industry partnerships and other University efforts.

The campaign’s website includes a video of Janis P. Terpenny, Peter and Angela Dal Pezzo Chair and department head, which underscores the contributions Penn State continues to make in manufacturing in the United States and across the world. The website draws attention to the academic programs, research centers, projects and other efforts the University has made to expand manufacturing technologies. Quotes and stories from College of Engineering alumni and industry sponsors are also included in the campaign.

“This is a wonderful time in history for the department,” said Terpenny. “One where manufacturing companies around the world can benefit from the significant advances in manufacturing Penn State has pioneered through hands-on laboratories and methods for our students, and research that is informed by — and in collaboration with — industry partners.”

This effort coincides with the department’s participation in a national media campaign initiated by MediaPlanet, an international content marketing company, titled “Manufacturing in America.” Industrial and manufacturing engineering at Penn State is highlighted in a supplemental section of USA Today in the Baltimore/Washington, Chicago, Detroit, Houston and Seattle markets Sept. 25-27 to coincide with National Manufacturing Day.

The department is also featured in MediaPlanet’s digital campaign that launched Sept. 25 and will run through Oct. 9.

Penn State is the only academic institution represented in the campaign.
