Penn State to have strong presence at top telecommunications policy conference

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Faculty and graduate students from the Penn State College of Communications have crafted a strong presence, with the most number of papers accepted from a single institution, at the top telecommunications policy conference in the field. The conference is held annually in late September outside Washington, D.C.

Five faculty members and two graduate students are sole authors or co-authors of seven papers accepted for the Telecommunications Policy Research Conference (TPRC), which focuses on communication, information and Internet policy. This year, the conference is scheduled for Sept. 24-27 at George Mason University in Arlington, Virginia.

The College of Communications has been active at the conference in past years, with several faculty members serving as program chairs or on the board of directors. The Journal of Information Policy, published by the Institute for Information Policy at Penn State, is one of two listed outlets for papers presented at the conference.

TPRC promotes interdisciplinary thinking on current and emerging issues in communications and the Internet by disseminating and discussing new research relevant to policy questions in the United States and around the world. It serves researchers, policymakers, and members of the private sector and civil society, from students to well-established practitioners.
