RV parking approaching sellout for Penn State Stripe Out clash against Rutgers

Patrons who do not purchase advance RV parking permit likely to be directed away from primary RV lot

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The anticipation for Saturday’s Big Ten Conference opener and Penn State Stripe Out clash against Rutgers has seen nearly all of the RV parking spaces exhausted in the primary RV lot near Beaver Stadium.

The opening game of the Big Ten’s 120th season will kick off at 8 p.m. and air on Big Ten Network, the Penn State Sports Network (6:30 p.m. airtime) and GoPSUsports.com.Once capacity is reached in the primary RV lot on Orchard Road, only patrons who present a season, advance (pre-paid) game day Yellow and advance Overnight RV Yellow parking permit will gain access to the primary RV lot for the Rutgers game.Patrons driving an RV who arrive on Thursday night, Friday or Saturday without an advance parking permit for the Rutgers game should expect to be directed to lots that are not as level and/or as close to Beaver Stadium, including the Red A parking lot near the Penn State Golf Courses. The CATA Loop bus is available to bring fans from the Red A lot to the Berkey Creamery.Fans who have not purchased an advance RV parking permit for the Rutgers game are encouraged to bring a car to the game.The deadline to purchase and receive a single-game car ($15) or RV ($60) parking pass for the Rutgers game by express mail is Wednesday at noon by calling 1-800-NITTANY (weekdays 8 a.m.-5 p.m.). Single-game car parking permits and RV parking, if available, for the Rutgers contest also can be purchased in advance at the Beaver Stadium ticket office weekdays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., with a deadline of 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18. The game day parking prices are $40 for cars and $120 for RVs, cash only.For phone purchases, there is a $2.25 service fee for a single-game parking permit. There is a limit of three single-game parking permits for each game per customer.Saturday’s contest also marks the initial Penn State Stripe Out of Beaver Stadium. Fans can find out if they should wear blue or white by visiting PennStateStripeOut.com. Penn State students are asked to wear white for the student White Out against Rutgers.The Scarlet Knights will be playing in Happy Valley for the first time since 1994. The Nittany Lions won at Rutgers, 13-10, last season, in the first meeting between the schools since 1995. The teams will annually meet as Big Ten East Division rivals.

Penn State is coming off a 27-14 win over Buffalo in its home opener, while the Scarlet Knights lost to Washington State, 37-34, last Saturday.For all remaining Penn State home games after Rutgers, fans driving an RV can purchase a single-day of game parking pass for $60 up to 10 days in advance of the game (U.S. mail) or by noon on the Wednesday prior to the game for a $15 fee (overnight mail) when ordering at 1-800-NITTANY (weekdays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) The game day RV parking permit price at all RV parking lots is $120, cash only.Season, partial season and single-game tickets for the campaign are on sale, with nearly 5,000 new season tickets having been sold.
