McGuigan named library director at Penn State Harrisburg

Glenn McGuigan has been named library director at Penn State Harrisburg, effective Sept. 1.

McGuigan, of Harrisburg, has served with Penn State’s University Libraries for more than 15 years. He joined Penn State Harrisburg’s library in 2000, after first serving at Penn State Abington. Prior to his appointment as director, he held the positions of business and public administration reference librarian and reference and public services coordinator at Penn State Harrisburg.

Currently a doctoral student in Penn State Harrisburg’s public administration program, McGuigan holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; a master of library science degree from the University of Pittsburgh; and a master of business administration degree from Penn State Harrisburg.

His research focuses on public administration subject areas that intersect with library science and scholarly publishing, with special focus on academic journal publishing and collection management in academic libraries. Since 2005, he has been the business subject editor for Resources for College Libraries, published by the Association for College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Choice Magazine.
