UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State's Class Gift Campaign Committee is now accepting proposals for the 2016 Class Gift, welcoming proposals by any member of the University community — students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Gift proposals can be submitted at the class gift website. The deadline is Friday, Sept. 18.
"With the newest class gift reveal, the class of 2013's 'We Are' sculpture outside the Intramural Building, the class gift committee is ready to see how the class of 2016 is going to start their legacy," said Ramon Guzman Jr., executive director for the 2016 campaign. “I am excited for what our committed and dedicated class will come up with as a symbol of our eternal gratitude for Penn State."
A selection committee comprised of University staff, faculty and students will review all proposals and narrow down the choices to the top three. Seniors will then have the opportunity to vote for their choice in October.
"The remaining proposals not considered for voting will be submitted to the University in hopes that your suggestions and ideas are heard in as many ways as possible," noted Guzman.
The class gift is an opportunity for students to leave a legacy at Penn State for future generations. Graduates of the class of 1861 began the tradition at an 1890 reunion with the gift of a portrait of the University's first president, Evan Pugh, which still hangs in the lobby of Old Main.
