Schreyer Institute holding free teaching workshops Sept. 1-2

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence will present a free workshop titled “How to Plan a Class Session” from 12:45 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1 in 201 Chambers Building on the University Park campus. The workshop will be repeated from 12:45 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2 in 315 Rider Building.

The session, presented by research associate Chas Brua and graduate consultants Lauren Brooks and David Favre, will focus on some basic decisions that every instructor needs to make when planning a class session.

The session will also offer practical suggestions for answering the following questions: What do I want my students to learn? What is an appropriate pace for the day’s activities? What methods will help my students learn? How will I know whether my students have actually learned?
