Food Science professor wins international Young Investigator Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- John Hayes, associate professor of food science in Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, and director of Penn State's Sensory Evaluation Center, received the Young Investigator Award at the Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium in Gothenburg, Sweden.

The Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium, the premier global meeting for basic and applied sensory science, is held biennially, with more than 1,000 attendees from both academia and industry. The meeting was held in late August.

In addition to a cash award, Hayes delivered a plenary talk on his research contributions to the field. These include improved psychophysical methods used to test food and consumer goods, as well as advances in our understanding of the biological foundations of chemosensation.
