Mullin named marshal for College of the Liberal Arts

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Erin Mullin, daughter of Brian and Stephanie Mullin of the State College area, has been selected as the student marshal representing the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State’s summer commencement ceremony, set for Aug. 15 at the Bryce Jordan Center. Mullin is graduating with a bachelor's degree in Spanish and a bachelor's degree in Global and International Studies, along with a minor in Labor and Employment Relations and a teaching certificate in English as a Second Language. Named to the dean's list several times, she is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Active in the community, Mullin has served as a volunteer translator and interpreter for various Penn State student organizations. She has also served as a translator for Art Sphere Institute, a non-profit organization, as a translator and interpreter for AccuWeather Inc., and as a tutor for Spanish and English language learners at State College Area High School. Mullin has studied abroad in the Dominican Republic. Her future plans include working as a translator and interpreter for the U.S. government.

"Having a degree from the College of the Liberal Arts gives me such a great edge to compete in the job market," Mullin said. "The college has a strong language program, which combined with the college’s reputation, will set me apart from the competition."
