Student Affairs announces appointment of senior director of UHS

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Student Affairs has announced Dr. Robin E. Oliver-Veronesi as the new senior director of University Health Services (UHS), effective Aug. 10.  Oliver was appointed to the position after a national search.

Damon Sims, vice president of student affairs, announced the appointment in July.

Oliver brings excellent leadership experience to UHS with previous experience in multiple health care venues within Centre County. She has been acting medical director and served on the Administration Committee for UHS since 2014 where she lead the clinical services team.

Oliver received her bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Penn State, and her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, in Philadelphia. She conducted her residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, also in Philadelphia. Before her career at UHS, Oliver worked in a variety of leadership and management positions in Centre County, including chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Mount Nittany Medical Center.

Oliver plans to build relationships within the Student Health Center and across the University by providing quality cost-effective student centered service. Her goal for Penn State University Health Services is to be a national leader for student health care.

“Her work in multiple health care venues within our community, from the Geisinger Medical Group to the Centre Medical and Surgical Associates to the University’s Student Health Center has been exemplary, and her collegiality is well known,” Sims said. “I am confident that she will build upon the exceptional legacy of her predecessor, Dr. Peg Spear, and that the health and well-being of Penn State’s students are in capable hands.”

Dr. Peg Spear retired as senior director in 2014.
