Approximately 200 new Penn State Lehigh Valley students are scheduled to attend New Student Welcome from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 18, at the campus in Center Valley. After registration, they will receive their official Penn State welcome in room 135 from Tina Richardson, Penn State Lehigh Valley’s new chancellor. Then, new students will head to mentor groups with student leaders, or participate in a safety and security workshop.

The keynote presentation will occur at 11 a.m. The keynote speaker for this event is Jon Vroman, an award-winning speaker, author and philanthropist. Vroman's mission, according to his website, is to encourage individuals to find and develop their unique talents so that they will make the biggest impact within their campus and community. In 2005, he founded The Front Row Foundation, which helps individuals and families who are braving critical health challenges to "experience life in the front row." The foundation gives those in need a front row experience at a concert, sporting event, theatrical performance, or other live event of their choice.

A welcome picnic will be held at noon in a tent near the south entrance. Additional academic workshops and special topics meetings will be held in the afternoon.
