Alumnus Jason Stieg named Smeal Executive MBA managing director

The Penn State Smeal College of Business named Jason A. Stieg as managing director of its Philadelphia-based Executive MBA Program.

Stieg, who graduated as valedictorian from the Smeal Executive MBA in 2011, joins the college with 15 years of experience in direct sales and sales management.

“We are very excited to have Jason join the Smeal EMBA team,” said Brian Cameron, associate dean for professional master’s programs. “He brings a lot of great experience and energy to the role, and we're looking forward to taking the program to new heights under his direction.”

As managing director, Stieg will lead the effort to recruit highly qualified applicants into the Smeal Executive MBA Program, oversee the student experience, and work to strengthen connections within the community of program alumni.

“I had such an amazing time during my tenure as a student in the program,” Stieg said. “The idea of being able to be re-immersed in that environment is exciting. I want to make sure that all current and future students have an opportunity for that type of experience.”

Stieg most recently served as director of global sales for Primus Green Energy. During his career, he has worked in a variety of sales roles with Yokogawa Corporation of America, Honeywell Process Solutions and PAS Inc.

“I have spent more than a decade in varying industry roles and locations, from mega Fortune 50 companies to startups, all around the world,” said Stieg, who has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon. “This breadth of experience should give me a good understanding of the students’ varying working environments.

“Ultimately it is my job to understand their challenges and desires and help them navigate their individual environments in order to achieve their goals.”
