Student selected to serve as communications marshal

A student who earned an undergraduate degree in public relations will serve as student marshal for the College of Communications during the University’s summer commencement ceremonies Aug. 15 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the University Park campus.Donghee Lee complemented her degree with a minor in Chinese.

While at Penn State, Lee served as the communications manager for EcoCAR, a competition featuring collaborators from the College of Engineering and the College of Communications as they strive to make stock vehicle models more eco-friendly. Most recently, the group placed second among 16 teams in the national EcoCAR3 competition, finishing first for its communications plan.

In May, Lee was one of five communications students recognized with a Davis Award for commitment to an ethical approach, integrity and service for the 2014-15 academic year.

Currently, Lee is a communications intern at Siemens PLM Software as part of the company’s Academic Partnership Program. In her time at Penn State, she also completed an internship with Warner Bros. Entertainment and wrote for The Daily Collegian, Fly Magazine and the Critique Magazine of the Smeal College of Business. She has also held multiple research and teaching assistantships.

Lee’s faculty escort will be Michel Haigh, associate professor in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations.
