Eckert named director of Office of Postdoctoral Affairs

Kristin A. Eckert has been named director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Penn State College of Medicine, replacing Jianming Hu, who completed the position’s five-year appointment.

Eckert is professor of pathology and biochemistry and molecular biology and is a member of Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, the Huck Institute Center for Medical Genomics and Penn State Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center.

She has extensive teaching and leadership experience in several courses for the graduate school and has been the primary adviser to 10 doctoral students, as well as many medical students, undergraduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Her teaching was recognized in 2015 when she received the Distinguished Educator Award.

Eckert has recently served on NIH Study sections, review committees for the American Cancer Society and the National Science Foundation and is a member of the Editorial Board for Cancer Research.

In addition to her teaching and advisory contributions, Eckert has served as ombudsperson at the College of Medicine.
