Black named president of American Orthopaedic Association

Dr. Kevin P. Black, professor and C. McCollister Evarts Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, was selected as president of the American Orthopaedic Association at its annual meeting. Black will serve from July 2015 to June 2016.

Founded in 1887, the AOA is the oldest and most distinguished orthopaedic association in the world. Membership in the AOA is achieved by those who have made a significant contribution to education, research and the practice of orthopaedic surgery.

In 2003, the Academic Orthopaedic Society was incorporated into the AOA. This positioned the AOA as the formal home and supporter of department chairs, program directors, fellowship directors and academic faculty, furthering the AOA's commitment to academics.

Black is also director of Penn State Hershey Bone and Joint Institute and vice dean of the University Park Regional Medical Campus.
