Again this year, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center will present An American Salute, an Independence Day performance by the Hershey Symphony Orchestra on the front lawn of the main hospital complex. This event typically attracts thousands of people.

This Saturday’s program will get underway at 7:30 p.m. The first half will feature light classical and “pops” music, while the second half will include a range of patriotic favorites.

After the concert at 10 p.m., attendees will be able to view the fireworks at Hersheypark from the Medical Center lawn.

Admission and parking are free. The Medical Center will provide free ice cream and water, with additional food and beverages being available for purchase. A variety of wellness activities for children will take place starting at 6 p.m. on the lawn.

Established in 1969 as a chamber ensemble by a group of musicians at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, the Hershey Symphony has grown to be one of the largest volunteer orchestras in the nation with 80-plus members from throughout central Pennsylvania.
