Faculty, staff, graduate students reminded to renew 'Ride for Five' passes

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Ride for Five mass transit passes will expire on July 1 for any graduate students, faculty or staff who prepaid only through June 2015. Pass holders who wish to extend the use of their Ride for Five pass must visit the Parking Office at 1 Eisenhower Parking Deck before 5 p.m. June 30.

A $60 payment by cash, check or money order, major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover), or LionCash+ will be due to extend the pass through June 30, 2016. Passes not extended by 5 p.m. June 30 will be deactivated and no longer accepted on any CATA routes.To ensure that opportunities exist for new graduate students to participate in the Ride for Five program, graduate students currently enrolled in the Ride for Five program who do not extend their pass before July 1 will not be guaranteed entry in the program for the 2015-16 academic year.Penn State Transportation Services will discontinue sales of the $4 one-day commuter parking permit effective July 1. As a result of this change, one-day commuter permits will no longer be included as part of the faculty/staff or graduate student Ride for Five programs. Existing one-day commuter permits will continue to be honored through Dec. 31.Program participants will continue to have the option to purchase an evening/weekend parking permit for $6 per month for access to parking on weekdays after 4 p.m. and throughout the day on Saturdays and Sundays. Anyone with the occasional need for parking on weekdays prior to 4 p.m. may use one of the multi-space pay stations at Lot 44 or Stadium West to purchase hourly or daily parking.
