Pfizer CFO to address Smeal IRES spring board meeting

A networking event, featuring Frank D’Amelio, the chief financial officer of Pfizer, Inc., will be the culmination of the spring meeting of the Penn State Smeal College of Business Institute for Real Estate Studies (IRES) today (June 8) at The Penn Club in New York City.

The IRES Advisory Board meets twice a year, hosting a spring meeting in New York as well as a meeting complete with a tailgate on the University Park campus in the fall. This year’s spring meeting has the added evening element, “The Intersection of Real Estate and Finance: An Evening with Frank D’Amelio, C.F.O. of Pfizer.”  In his address to the IRES board and other industry leaders, Amelio will discuss the value creation possibilities which link real estate and finance.

IRES fosters discussion and research between academicians and business professionals in the area of real estate and provides a focal point for real estate education at Penn State.

“This is a great opportunity for IRES to highlight the Penn State real estate program to the top finance and real estate executives in the industry. New York City is the hub of finance and one of the most important real estate markets, so it is only natural that we host a meeting which brings these two groups together,” said IRES Director Brent Ambrose, the Smeal Chaired Professor of Real Estate.

“Our ultimate goal is to make industry leaders aware that Penn State has one of the leading real estate academic programs and that our students are and should be high on their lists for recruiting.”

D’Amelio has served as CFO of Pfizer since 2007 and executive vice president of business operations since 2010. He arrived at Pfizer during a financial crisis and helped engineer the subsequent financial turnaround of the company.
