Behrend offers free math and reading refresher course for adult learners

Adult and nontraditional learners who’d like to brush up on their math, reading or study skills before starting or returning to college are invited to attend a free summer workshop at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College.

The Academic Transition Program is designed for anyone interested in pursuing a degree but unsure if they have the foundational skills for college-level academics.

“If you’ve been out of school for any length of time, the idea of returning can be intimidating,” said Biddy Brooks, director of Behrend’s Office of Adult Learner Services. “This program refreshes the math and reading skills you’ll need to succeed in a college classroom. It’s a great first step for any adult considering higher education.”

There is no cost to attend the Academic Transition Program, and no obligation to enroll at Penn State Behrend. The nine-week program’s evening meetings will be held twice weekly beginning Monday, June 22.

For more information about the Academic Transition Program or to register to attend, contact Brooks at 814-898-6700, email behrendadultctr@psu.edu, or visit behrend.psu.edu/adult.
