This timely warning addresses a report of sexual misconduct. Resources are available on and off campus to provide assistance. Visit www.psu.edu/hotlines for support.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- A sexual assault was reported to University Police by an anonymous third party caller at 12:15 a.m. May 31. The reported assault occurred inside an unknown residence on the University Park campus during an unknown time May 30. The unknown victim, a student, told the anonymous caller that a known male sexually assaulted her.

Those in the campus community are reminded to:

-- Get verbal consent from your partner, and don't assume you know what the other person wants.

-- Don’t feel obligated to do anything you don’t want to. “I don’t want to” is always a good enough reason.

-- Listen to your partner. If you are getting unclear messages, stop.

-- Sexual assault is a second degree felony in the state. Sentencing can include as many as 10 years in prison, fines and psychiatric treatment.

-- Perpetrators are responsible for sexual assaults. Perpetrators take advantage of vulnerability and seek opportunities to commit sexual assaults.

It can be assumed that conditions exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the University community. It is the duty of the administration to warn of possible "dangerous conditions" on or near the campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus; an "affirmative duty" exists to warn persons associated to the University of possible peril at the hands at some third party or parties.
