UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we're recognizing six Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:

Dani Johnson, at Penn State Shenango, whose nominator wrote: "She is always smiling and willing to help others. I was new on campus, and she made it a point to make me feel welcome. She goes out of her way to do this for all the students she meets."

John Hurst, with Residence Life, whose nominator wrote: "John Hurst is a pretty awesome individual and amazingly positive role model for our students. Over the years he has done a lot of really cool things to be a mentor and guide for our students and truly deserves a shout out for all of his dedication and passion."

Danielle DeStefano, at Penn State New Kensington, whose nominator wrote: "Danielle has taught herself SPSS software (on her own time) in order to create a predictive model for campus enrollments. She has collected a multitude of data and has run it though SPSS. Having this data analysis has assisted us in our recruitment, retention and marketing initiatives."

Cheryl Bonner, with the Alumni Association, whose nominator wrote: "Cheryl Bonner’s leadership and highly collaborative, creative spirit are critical in discovering new ways to best serve alumni around the world, including those who may never set foot on a campus. Her selfless dedication and alumni-centric thinking are truly inspiring."

Gerry LeTendre, in Education Policy Studies, whose nominator wrote: "Without a doubt, Dr. LeTendre is the best department chair on Penn State's (University Park) campus. He always makes himself available to students, and for that, I'm appreciative!"

Heather Peffley, at Penn State Hershey, whose nominator wrote: "Without fail, Heather is responsive (often beyond hours), conscientious and knowledgeable (gets the answer if she doesn't know). But more important is her cheerful and professional demeanor — she is a model of Penn State excellence for faculty, trainees and (potential or) new faculty hires!"

Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form. For more information about the process, visit the "We Are!" guidelines
