Penn State Fayette names new athletic director

Charles Patrick, chancellor and chief academic officer of Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, has announced the appointment of Louis “Lou” Zadecky as director of athletics.

“Lou brings years of experience and a high level of professionalism to the position,” said Patrick, who added that Zadecky will officially begin his duties June 22.

“I would like to thank Dr. Patrick, the search committee, and the Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus community for this incredible opportunity, said Zadecky. “I look forward to continuing the strong tradition that has been forged at Fayette and embracing the challenge of moving the program into a successful future.”

Zadecky added, “I believe that Penn State Fayette is a hidden jewel amongst the Penn State campuses and the students, faculty, staff and administration have the drive and enthusiasm that build success. I am excited to get started and become an integral part of the campus and community.”

For the past 15 years, Zadecky has worked as a health and physical education teacher in the Yough School District. Also, as head coach of the Penn State Greater Allegheny women’s basketball team, he was named 2014 Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and 2013 Coach of the Year at Penn State Greater Allegheny.

Zadecky earned a master of science degree in sports administration and management from California University of Pennsylvania. He holds a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and holds a Pennsylvania state certification (K-12) in health and physical education.
