UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State men's golf team will make its 21st NCAA Regional appearance at the University of North Carolina Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. May 14-16.The last time the Nittany Lions competed in the NCAA tournament was in 2010, when head coach Greg Nye lead the team all the way to the finals. It was the program's second Nationals appearance in three years and fourth overall."This team is so deserving," Nye said. "It's a classic example of a no-quit mentality and playing through the wire at every event, especially at Big Ten's last week."The Blue and White will compete against a 13-team field, plus ten individuals not on those teams. Penn State is the No. 11 seed in its region consisting of Florida State, Stanford, UNC, Kennesaw State, Wake Forest, Clemson, Florida, Georgia Regents, UNC Charlotte, McNeese State, Miami (Ohio) and Loyola (Maryland)."UNC is a sight we are familiar with through our travels," Nye said. "We will finish up our exams and then narrow our focus in on what we need to be at our best again next week."The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each of the six regional tournaments will advance to the finals. The finals will be conducted May 29-June 3 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Florida. To see the official release by the NCAA, click here.
