University Park, PA—An exhibit highlighting the rich resources contained within the Alumni Library is currently on display in the Franklin Atrium, on the first floor of Pattee Library. The theme of the exhibit is fishing, a nod to the Alumni Library’s featured resource for May and June, the Higbee Stream Map of Pennsylvania.

Howard William Higbee, a soils scientist and Penn State agronomy professor from 1935-66, charted and hand drew Pennsylvania’s 45,000 miles of streams on his map, including the locations of 900 trout streams and 300 lakes, dams, reservoirs and ponds.

The Alumni Library online gives graduates access to a selection of online databases not available to the general public. These include Ebsco's Academic Search, JSTOR, Project MUSE, ProQuest API and ProQuest National Newspapers. In addition, the website highlights some of the Libraries’ extensive digital collections that alumni may not be aware of, such as the Higbee Stream map, which can be viewed and downloaded for use.

The Alumni Library is a joint project of the University Libraries and the Penn State Alumni Association and was created in 2006. The Penn State Alumni Association strives to connect alumni to the University and to each other, provide valuable benefits to members and support the University’s mission of teaching, research and service.
