Kiss Hershey Back by helping to make it more beautiful

Kiss Hershey Back is a township-wide cleanup effort led by Penn State College of Medicine students to make the Sweetest Place on Earth also the cleanest place on earth. This project was started six years ago by five first-year medical students who wanted to give back to the community.The community-driven event is supported by the Derry Township Board of Supervisors and Department of Public Works along with local school districts, community organizations and businesses. Hundreds of community members volunteer to pick up litter and plant trees and flowers in Derry Township’s parks, near its greenways and along its rural roads.The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, with a kickoff breakfast from 9 to 10:30 a.m. There will be speakers and raffle prizes worth as much as $400 from Fever Salon, Troegs Brewery, Hershey Pantry, Smoked, Your Place, Trevi 5 at The Hotel Hershey, Hershey Theatre, Giant, Weis, Karns and more.Registration information and location sites can be found on the group’s website.
