Penn State's concert and symphonic bands to perform April 29

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Two of Penn State's concert bands will perform on April 29 in Eisenhower Auditorium on the University Park campus. The Concert Band will perform at 7 p.m., followed by the Symphonic Band at 8:30. The Symphonic Band's repertoire includes transcriptions for band based on original compositions by Johannes Brahms and Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as "Postcard" by contemporary composer Frank Ticheli. 

The Concert Band is conducted by O. Richard Bundy. The Symphonic Band is conducted by Dennis Glocke, assisted by graduate wind conducting student Robert Hickey, Jr.

Tickets are $12 general admission, $4 students for each individual concert, but patrons planning to attend both concerts need to pay once only. Buy your tickets in advance for School of Music concerts in Eisenhower Auditorium and save 40 percent on the price of admission. There is no limit on the number of tickets that can be purchased. The Concert Band performs the finest in traditional and contemporary literature composed or transcribed for the concert band medium. It performs concerts in Eisenhower Auditorium. The Concert Band is open to all students, regardless of major. An audition IS required in the spring semester, but NOT in the fall. The Symphonic Band is a select band that utilizes the full resources of the large wind/percussion ensemble to perform outstanding works from the concert band repertory. Members of the eighty-piece ensemble are selected by audition during the first week of classes each semester. The Symphonic Band presents several concerts each semester in the 2,600-seat Eisenhower Auditorium. Like all Penn State bands, the Symphonic Band is open to all students, regardless of major.
