Parking and traffic patterns in effect for Garth Brooks concerts

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- With large crowds expected at country singer Garth Brooks' performances Friday, April 24, to Saturday, May 2, as well as other events scheduled on campus, parking availability will vary slightly.

Visitors are encouraged to make note of the arrangements in place for the date(s) on which they plan to attend a performance, and to follow directions provided by campus electronic message boards, University Police and event parking staff when arriving on campus to ensure that all visitors reach the show safely and on time.

Penn State faculty, staff and students should note that display of a valid Penn State faculty/staff or student parking permit will allow entry into the general parking areas outlined below for no additional fee.

General Parking

Friday, April 24 - Garth Brooks will open his Bryce Jordan Center run with a 7 p.m. performance on Friday, April 24, with event parking lots set to open at 4 p.m. A tiered parking system will be in place, with $10 general parking available at Lot 44, Stadium West and Porter North, and $5 reduced fee parking available at the East and Eisenhower parking decks. Anyone wishing to expedite their exit from campus after the show is encouraged to park at the East or Eisenhower parking decks.

Saturday, April 25 - Back-to-back performances will be held at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, with event parking lots set to open at 4 p.m. To facilitate the heavy traffic that will be leaving and arriving at the Bryce Jordan Center between the two performances, there will be no parking at Stadium West for the 7 p.m. performance. General parking for $10 at the 7 p.m. performance will be available only at Lot 44 and Porter North, while $5 reduced fee parking will remain available at the East and Eisenhower parking decks. To allow incoming traffic to reach campus on time for the 10:30 p.m. performance, all vehicles exiting the 7 p.m. performance from Porter North will be directed north to Park Avenue, while all vehicles exiting Lot 44 on Porter Road and Curtin Road will be directed south on Porter Road to College Avenue. Vehicles may also exit Lot 44 by traveling west on Dauer Drive to University Drive.

Fans attending the 10:30 p.m. performance are encouraged to arrive early. Patrons attending this performance will be directed to the East and Eisenhower parking decks ($5), the Orange lots along Park Avenue near the Office of Physical Plant ($10), and Stadium West ($10). Traffic and lot capacity will determine where vehicles are directed and visitors are asked to be alert and follow the directions provided by electronic message boards, University police and event parking staff. To allow vehicles to exit event lots following the 7 p.m. performance, those attending the 10:30 p.m. performance should travel to event lots via Park Avenue.

Friday, May 1 - Parking availability and pricing for the 7 p.m. performance on Friday, May 1, will mirror plans in place for the April 24 performance. With thousands of fans also expected to attend the “Movin’ On” student concert festival at the Blue Band field on Friday, May 1, visitors traveling to campus should allow extra time to reach event parking lots. Parking for “Movin’ On” will be $5 and available only at the East and Eisenhower parking decks.

Saturday, May 2 - Two performances are also scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and it is expected that event parking for these performances will mirror plans in place for Saturday, April 25. However, if any changes are deemed necessary following the April 25 performances, information will be provided the week prior to the May 2 performances via the Transportation Services website.

ADA Parking

ADA parking for the performances on Friday, April 24, and Friday, May 1, will be available at the section of Lot 44 near Bryce Jordan Center Gate B, just across from the All-Sports Museum, and at the first row of spaces along Curtin Road at Stadium West, across from the Bryce Jordan Center Ticket Office.

On Saturday, April 25, and Saturday, May 2, ADA parking will be available only at Lot 44 for the 7 p.m. performances, while fans with ADA parking needs attending the 10 p.m. performances will be directed to Stadium West.

In addition to a valid state-issued ADA placard or license plate, ADA parking will require a prepaid event parking permit, a valid Penn State faculty/staff or student parking permit, or payment of the $10 event parking fee.
