Office of Physical Plant to host free stormwater seminar

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Office of Physical Plant is sponsoring a free public stormwater seminar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 21 at the Centre County/Penn State Visitors Center. The target audience is local engineers, planners, municipal representatives, faculty, staff, students and concerned citizens.

The event will provide six professional development hours and free lunch. To reserve a spot, go to http://sustainability.psu.edu/stormwater or call 814-863-3345. Space is limited to 120, so RSVP is required by May 8.   

Seminar topics include: An introduction to stormwater and how local stormwater programs work together; flooding in State College, why it happens, and how do we fix it; the local Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems programs; the great things in State College that protect stormwater; green Infrastructure and its applications in State College; understanding erosion control, what it can and can’t do; protecting groundwater; and understanding thermal and water quality impacts to cold water streams.
