Penn State Concert Choir to perform April 19

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Concert Choir will present its final concert of the 2014-15 school year at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 19, in Esber Recital Hall. The ensemble is conducted by Christopher Kiver, assisted by choral conducting graduate students Nathan Glocke and Melody Gifford. Tickets are available at the door.

The 42-voice Concert Choir has toured Europe, performing in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Great Britain. Within the United States, the Penn State Concert Choir has performed extensively within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, New England, Louisiana and the Southwest, and at premier venues including Heinz Hall (Pittsburgh), the Kimmel Center (Philadelphia) and the Music Center at Strathmore (Maryland). The Concert Choir has performed at conferences of the American Choral Directors Association and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association.

Performing music from the Renaissance to the present in its regularly-scheduled campus concerts, recent performances of major choral works have included Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 in C Minor (“Resurrection”), "Ein deutsches Requiem" by Johannes Brahms, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, "Requiem" by Giuseppe Verdi and Leonard Bernstein's "Mass." The Concert Choir is conducted by Christopher Kiver.
