Financial Literacy Month contest to help employees improve 'financial IQ'

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- In recognition of National Financial Literacy Month, the Penn State Employee Benefits Division, in partnership with TIAA-CREF will hold a contest to help University employees hone their financial planning skills.

Beginning Monday (April 13) and running through May 13, the Financial IQ is an interactive online challenge that will offer participants five questions each work day to encourage financial awareness, education and engagement.  Each time a quiz is completed participants will be entered to win one of three iPads to be awarded at the end of the event.

April is National Financial Literacy Month, which was established to improve financial literacy and ensure all Americans have access to trustworthy financial services and products. While this is a critical mission all year long, the month provides a special opportunity to raise awareness of tools and resources that can help Penn State employees make better decisions regarding their financial well-being now and in the future. It is also a time to reinforce the benefits of participating in the University retirement plans and for employees to consider increasing their contributions.

All University employees are eligible to enter the contest, regardless of the retirement plan in which they participate. Penn State employees will receive a link to the contest from their area’s Human Resources representative.

Any questions concerning this event should be directed to Gary Scheidecker, Employee Benefits Division, at 814-863-4621, or gds111@psu.edu.
