Program on April 14 will honor survivors of violence

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- On Tuesday, April 14, Penn State’s Center for Spiritual & Ethical Development and the Center for Women Students will host a program to raise awareness about violence and the journeys of survivors.

Now in its eighth year, Honoring Survival: Transforming the Spirit honors the strength and resiliency of survivors of sexual, emotional and physical violence, and those who support them in their healing process. The program will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center’s Memorial Lounge.

The intention is to bring these issues to light, focus on the courage and tenacity of the survivors, and highlight Penn State’s resources for those for victims of violence. Hear the stories of survivors and those who support them through poetry, storytelling and music. Nancy Donoval, National Story Slam Champion and a survivor, will share her story at this event. She will also be leading a workshop called Crafting Your Story from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center’s Garden Room with dinner to follow.

Please email Jennifer Pencek at jlp35@psu.edu to RSVP for one or both events. Attendance at both is not required.

For questions, call 814-865-6548 or email Pencek.
