Open your child’s mind this summer without letting them know you did! Penn State Shenango invites your middle school-aged child to a one-week summer STEM — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — day camp that runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26. The weeklong camp will be available to students entering grades 7, 8 and 9 this fall.
The cost of the camp is $95 and is limited to the first 24 paid applicants. Students will be able to enjoy their packed lunch in the campus’ air-conditioned Great Hall.The camp courses will be taught by Penn State Shenango faculty experts who will engage students in learning while offering lessons on a variety of topics and leading activities including: understanding chemical reactions while tie-dying T-shirts, building terrariums, learning blogging techniques and Internet safety tips, and meeting the newest member of the campus biology lab, Synthia—a state-of-the-art synthetic cadaver.In addition to hands-on classes, students will take an all-day field trip where they will participate in outside environmental activities. Transportation will be provided.Registration will be open May 1.
