No. 47 women's tennis set for final non-conference match

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Fresh off of a weekend sweep of the then 43rd ranked Indiana Hoosiers and 28th ranked Purdue Boilermakers, the No. 47 Penn State women's tennis team gets set for their final non-conference match of the season against St. Bonaventure. The match is set for Saturday, April 4 with first serve coming at 1 p.m. 

Scouting St. Bonaventure The Bonnies own a 5-9 record on the year, as they will host Dayton at home Thursday before heading to University Park. St. Bonaventure is currently riding a two-match losing streak, dropping matches to Quinnipiac and IPFW. The Bonnies are led by Fatya Amiri, who is 7-7 in the first singles position, and has eight singles victories on the season. Mariam Skhirtladze owns the most singles victories on the team with nine. The doubles duo of Mara Martinez-Santori and Marisa Brossard are 9-5 in the first doubles position.

Nittany Lions Moving On Up The blue and white moved up 24 spots in this weeks rankings, going from No. 71 to No. 47 after their two big wins over Top 50 opponents. Penn State has now tallied four victories over ranked teams.

Penn State Playing B1G The Nittany Lions come into the weekend with a 5-2 record in conference play, good enough for fourth best. Four of the five Big Ten victories have come against ranked opponents, including wins over Illinois, Maryland, Indiana and Purdue. Looking forward, the blue and white have four conference matches remaining.

Looking Ahead Penn State hits the road for two conference matches against Nebraska and Iowa on April 10 and 12, respectively. The match against the Cornhuskers will be at 5:30 p.m. while Sunday's match against the Hawkeyes is set for 11:00 a.m.
