Dating and marriage trends focus of April 2 Research Unplugged

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Beth Montemurro, associate professor of sociology, will present “Love, American Style: The Evolution of Courtship and Dating” at this week’s Research Unplugged talk, at 12:30 p.m. April 2 in Schlow Centre Region Library in State College.

The Research Unplugged series, now in its 11th year, brings together Penn State researchers and the State College community for lively public discussions.

Montemurro, who teaches at Penn State Abington and is the author of "Deserving Desire: Women’s Stories of Sexual Evolution," will explore the meaning behind American trends and traditions regarding dating, sex, engagements and weddings. How did these trends evolve and are they enduring or changing in the 21st century?

Research Unplugged events are free and open to the public. A question and answer session is part of the program.

The Research Unplugged series is made possible with the support of Penn State and Schlow Centre Region Library. For additional information, contact series coordinator Melissa Beattie Moss at 814-865-2614 or mbmoss@psu.edu.
