Penn State Beaver announced the results of its annual area school Math Competition held March 24 on campus. A total of 105 students, grades 8-12, from 11 area schools participated.
Zach Tomasic, an eighth-grade student at Moon High School, and senior Mark Michalko, Hopewell High School, tied in the individual competition. Montour High School’s Team 1 won first place in the group competition; Moon High School’s Team 1 took second place; and Moon’s Team 2 won third place.
The event was coordinated by Chris Wu, Beaver campus professor of mathematics. Event assistants were Dan Pinchot, director of enrollment; Rachel Zughaib, assistant director of enrollment; Justin Vorbach, admissions counselor; Debbie Hormel, Admissions and Financial Aid staff support assistant; and Linda Garlitz, faculty staff assistant.
