Health and Human Development students among Graduate School research winners

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Students from the College of Health and Human Development are among the winners at the annual Graduate Exhibition.

The Graduate School at Penn State sponsored the event, which was held March 22 at Esber Recital Hall in the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus, where seven graduate students in the college placed in three separate categories.

“The College of Health and Human Development is committed to graduate education, and ensuring that our graduate students receive a high-quality education that will prepare them for the next stage of their careers,” said Kathryn Drager, associate dean for research and graduate education. “Research is one essential part of graduate education, and dissemination of that research is critical. The Graduate Exhibition is a great venue for students to be able to showcase their work to a broad and diverse audience. We are really proud of the hard work that is evident by everyone who participated.”

Engineering

Behnoosh Parsa, kinesiology,  third place, adviser Mark Latash, "Do single and bimanual human grasping data result from minimizing the same optimal criterion? – An inverse optimization approach."

Health and life sciences

Justin Wager, kinesiology, second place, adviser John Challis, "The spring-like function of the plantar aponeurosis and its contribution to foot movements during running."

Social and behavioral sciences

Jonathan Reader, human development and family studies, second place, adviser Douglas Teti, "Negative Life Events and Associations with Marital Quality Across the First Two Years of Parenthood."

Chih-Hsiang Yang, kinesiology, third place, adviser David Conroy, "Implementation of Behavior Change Techniques in Mobile Apps for Physical Activity.”

Sungwoo Choi, hospitality management, third place, adviser Anna Mattila, "The Impact of Online Reviews on Hotel Booking Intention: The Moderating Role of Consumer Power and Perceived Risk."
