Penn State Beaver faculty publications are announced

The work of two Penn State Beaver faculty members has recently been published.

Stephanie Cabarcas-Petroski, instructor in biology, coauthored “BRF2, a Biomarker in Cancer?” an article that appeared in the Journal of Carcinogenesis & Mutagenesis, Volume 6, Issue 1. Rosemary Martinelli, lecturer in communications, wrote “Employee Volunteerism: The Long-Lost, Highly Valuable Business PR Tool,” which is included in Chapter 2, Motivation and Morale, the Book of Employee Communications Strategies and Tactics, Volume 5.

The research of Cabarcas-Petroski and her co-authors focuses on detecting cancers and early intervention, which are crucial factors in increasing survival rates. Efforts are being made to identify proteins that can contribute to complications that can arise in designing new individual and tissue-specific cancer therapies.

Martinelli’s work, along with that of other media specialists included in the book, addresses numerous topics such as social media policies, human resources collaboration and brand evangelism. Her writing is focused on the importance of employee involvement and communication as a critical tool in public relations.

Carbarcas-Petroski’s previous positions include instructor of biology at Gannon University. She has also written grants for the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, worked as a contractor for Boundless Learning, and served as a contract editor and reviewer for various scholarship publications. She holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in biological sciences from St. John’s University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from High Point University.
