Womack wins a silver medal for 'Made to Order: The Sheetz Story'

Kenneth Womack, professor of English and integrative arts at Penn State Altoona, has been awarded a silver medal in the Axiom Business Book Awards for "Made to Order: The Sheetz Story," which received honors in the Corporate History category. Womack also serves as the campus's senior associate dean for academic affairs.

"Made to Order: The Sheetz Story" traces the fascinating history of Sheetz, Inc., the regional convenience retailer that battled the odds and cemented its name among the ranks of America’s most successful private companies. From its humble dairy store origins in Pennsylvania, Sheetz became a convenience-store giant, amassing 500 locations across six states and creating numerous marketing and retail innovations along the way. The book narrates the signal ways in which the company remade itself in the face of dramatically shifting demographics and emerged as a revered and much-beloved retail phenomenon.
