Penn State Schuylkill hires Killian as head women's basketball coach

John Cooper, director of athletics, announced the hiring of Charles Killian as head coach of the women’s basketball program at Penn State Schuylkill.

After graduating from Blue Mountain Area High School, Killian enlisted in the military, providing service in the Pennsylvania National Guard and the U.S. Air Force. Master Sgt. Killian earned E-7 rank in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 21 years of active duty. He played and coached basketball in the military as well as participated in other sports.

Killian has led both the girls' and boys' basketball programs at Blue Mountain Area High School throughout the past 26 years and was mentored by coaches Ruth Weidman, Bert Werdt, Dustin Werdt and Kenny Kline.

He and his wife, Susan, have been married 29 years and reside in Auburn, Pennsylvania. They have two children, Patrick, a graduate of Penn State who resides in Schuylkill Haven, and Lindsay, a graduate of Liberty University, who resides in West Palm Beach, Florida.
