Spotlight on Career Fashion event highlights dressing for specific career fields

Penn State Lehigh Valley will host its annual career fashion show from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26, in room 135. This year, Spotlight on Career Fashions will showcase students modeling professional attire from stores such as Boscov’s, Target, Apricot Lane Boutique and Men’s Warehouse.

In a twist on traditional business fashion, this event will highlight fashions that specifically apply to the various professional fields in which degrees are offered by the campus including Arts Administration, Business, Corporate Communication and others.

“When applying for a career in the arts, one of our Arts Administration students may want to consider adding a creative flair to accent professional attire with bright colors or perhaps bring a satchel or leather bag instead of a briefcase,” said Career Services Manager Jean Raymond-Hoffman. “This is what will make an applicant stand out during the interview and hiring process.”

The event also will include sessions demonstrating acceptable attire for casual Fridays and what not to wear, which will feature appearances by faculty and staff.

“It’s fabulous for students to see real examples of professional attire that can give them an edge in the interviewing process,” Women’s Commission representative Sharon Neders stated. “Plus, this event is done in such an entertaining format, I hope a lot of people attend.”
