Penn State to celebrate Pride Week from March 23 to 27

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Starting Monday, March 23, the LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Ally) Student Resource Center will celebrate the diversity within the LGBTQ+ community during its annual Pride Week. Week-long educational programming is free and open to the public.

Throughout the week, speakers will raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and advocate acceptance. These speakers include Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Sims who will be speaking at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, in Foster Auditorium. The keynote speakers include transgender athletes Fallon Fox and Kye Allums at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, in Freeman Auditorium. Bettina Love, a professor at University of Georgia, will also discuss queer identity and social justice at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 26. Pride Week will conclude with a parade through campus starting at noon Friday, March 27, at the Life Sciences Building.

Campus and community sponsors include The Commission on LGBT Equity, The Center for Ethics and Religious Affairs, Counseling and Psychological Services, Safe Zone Program, LGBTA Student Coalition, Paul Robeson Cultural Center, OUT & Allies in Business, LGBTQ Student Roundtable, Division of Student Affairs, University Health Services and the University Park Allocation Committee.
